Hello, friends,
It's a new year, where death and darkness and stillness give way to rebirth. ...Eventually.
Please enjoy this slender, powerful volume, full of work that speaks to death, to change, and what comes after. Issue 14 marks the end of Lammergeier season 4, a year filled with curiosity, and a certain fractured return to the past, a reexamination with teeth (I'm a poet; I'm legally obligated to say that).
As Lammergeier enters its fifth year, we are so proud of the work we've showcased. In our first four years, we've showcased work from four continents, from writers young and old, writers who are seasoned pros and writers who called Lammergeier their first publication. We've collected such a fine cadre of weirdos in this flock, and we couldn't be happier to count them among our numbers.
Likewise, we've been grateful to take on such incredible editorial talent in Associate Poetry Editors Emory and Randi, and as we move into Season 5, it's time for me to step down as poetry editor and let them take the helm so that I can do my part to help our little flock continue to grow.
We have so many wonderful surprises in store for you, all of which will be announced in the coming weeks. Thank you for being here with us. Thank you for trusting us—for trusting me—with your work. It's been a privilege.
Happy Scavenging, Jacqueline
